Staunton Meend

Staunton Meend – The Parish Council owns and manages the common to benefit people and wildlife.  Planning consent for fencing and gates was renewed in June 2022 for a further period of 10 years.  Here is the permission.

The Management Plan for the Meend is now available for consultation.  It’s available to download from our webpage (link!).  The work outlined within the plan is funded by grants from DEFRA and the Wye Valley National Landscape.

We are having an open morning in the village hall on Saturday 22nd June from 10 – 12.  The Parish Councillors, Helena Ronicle (ecologist working with us to restore the Meend) and Alex Crawley from Conservation Grazing will be on hand to answer your questions.

In addition we are running a training course on Monday 15th July to teach you how to help look after the cattle on The Meend, if you’d like to get involved please let us know.

The PoundOther open space – As well as Staunton Meend Common we own and manage a number of other public open spaces in the village including the Pound, the Butts and Castle Ditch.

 

 

 

Staunton Village HallThe Parish Council owns the village hall and car park. It is leased to a community group who are responsible
for the everyday running of the building including bookings.

 

 

 

In additional we are responsible for the cutting of verges along the A4136 within the village.

Street furniture – The Parish Council owns and maintains a number of benches on land in its ownership, several notice boards and a bus shelter within the village.
